Summer 2020 Trip to Episcopal Youth Event
This July, Abby will take six Connect members to the EYE event in Washington, DC. Additionally, we are going glamping in the Catskills. It'll be an awesome summer! Call Abby if you'd like to assist us at 845 420 4280.
Connect
Connect is a year-round youth program for middle and high school students seeking to explore their relationship with spirituality, creativity and community in a supportive environment of friends and young leaders. We meet twice a month, at Grace Church in Millbrook or St. Paul's in Poughkeepsie, and hold meaningful discussions guided by rotating Discussion Guides (two Connect members who prepare a facilitated dialogue beforehand). We play games, hang out, and work on creative service-oriented projects to enrich our communities.
Our meetings typically run three hours, from 2-5pm, on Saturday or Sunday. Our discussions center around topics such as relationships, consciousness, leadership, school... anything we like! In addition to our two Discussion Guides, we have three other rotating roles for Connect members to step up and practice their leadership skills. Each week, we elect a Meeting Facilitator who fills out the meeting report and keeps us on track throughout the meeting, a Game Master who leads the group game, and a Closing Ceremony Leader, who concludes our meeting with a song, prayer or other unifying reflective activity.
Through our commitment to the Connect community, we identify and learn how to embody our shared values, express ourselves creatively (this December we are putting on a play!), develop meaningful relationships with the people around us and cultivate a deeper understanding of what it means to walk as an awakening and loving human on Earth.
