Annual Blessing of our Sacred Places

Every May, Grace Church and Innisfree Gardens host a interfaith service with local leaders from the Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Indigenous, and Buddhist communities. This service takes participants to different "stations" around Innisfree where faith leaders offer prayers from their own religious tradition.
This year’s annual Interfaith Celebration of God’s Creation, Blessing Our Sacred Earth, took place on Sunday May 22 at the lovely Innisfree Garden in Millbrook. A crowd of over fifty persons joined clergy and leaders from a number of religious and secular communities in making a procession around the lake, stopping at different stations to read and reflect on readings from a wide variety of sacred and secular traditions. There was singing and chanting and contemplative listening to the sounds of water wind and birdsong as the group made its way to the final spot, gathering around a large flat rock near a majestic oak looking over the lake of Innisfree. There the service concluded with a blessing of seeds and people, and a final song, “For the beauty of the Earth." If you missed the event click on the photo below to watch the service.
